Problem
Wear and tear of the convertor resulting from thermal shocks, chemical attack and physical damage during scrap charging in the converter.
Objective
To increase life of the converter.
Solution
Installation of Forbes Marshall slag splashing system on existing oxygen blowing system for splashing the generated slag on the original refractory so it acts as a working liner.
Benefits
- Increase in the lining life of the converter

- Reduced stoppage due to increase in convertor volume, resulting in better yield

- Rapid de-phosphorisation

- Reduction in flux due to recycling of steelmaking slag

- Precise nitrogen flow control according to recipe
