Background

A plant in South India of one of the world's leading Breweries
Objective

Higher Specific Energy Consumption (MJ/HL) vis-à-vis plant's energy consumption norms
Approach

– Report to Reality handholding covering Audit, Design Consultancy, Technical Supervision and Quantification of Savings

– Benchmarking of actual specific consumption and identifying avenues to bridge the gap against benchmark consumption norms

– Focused on the boiler house to improve the steam to fuel ratio

– Focused on the brew house to map actual vs theoretical energy consumption and avenues to reduce the MJ/HL.

– Addressed process parameters like evaporation ratio and steam and condensate system design
Case details

– Energy reduction in the brew kettle by 34% from 68.6MJ/HL to 44.9MJ/HL

– Energy reduction in the Adjunct, Mash and Hot water system by 20% from 35.3MJ/HL to 28MJ/HL

– Process parameters like degree plato precisely maintained

– Steam to fuel ratio improvement from 3.1 to 3.9Kg/Kg

– CO2 reduction by 2.8 million kilograms/year
