Automatic Blowdown Control, Medium and High Pressure Blowdown Systems

Automatic Blowdown Control Sysem (ABCO) Range
If the level of total dissolved solids (TDS) in your boiler gets higher than desired limit, you could be facing serious scaling on your boiler tubes and downstream equipments, foaming inside the boiler and water carry over along with the steam. So you periodically blowdown your boiler to keep it safe. The problem is, you are blowing down more than just high TDS water, you are blowing down money . With manual blowdown methods, you have no way of knowing your boiler''s current TDS levels or optimal blowdown amount, so you don''t know when to blow down or for how long.
With our Spirax BCS 3 Automatic Blowdown Control System your boiler is blown down only when, and for as long as required thus protecting your boiler and money from being blown down the drain.

Why Blowdown?

As steam is generated, the TDS level of your boiler water starts to increase. At levels above the manufacturer’s specified maximum TDS range, scale deposits begin to form on your boiler drum & tubes. The high TDS water begins to foam which, when carried over by steam, leads to corrosion and deposits on heat transfer surfaces. To protect your boiler and downstream systems, high TDS water must be blown down and replaced with lower TDS feedwater before it reaches danger levels. Manual blowdown never lets you maintain these levels because of the risk of crossing them. Only the Spirax BCS3 can guarantee protection for your boiler by ensuring that the set level is never exceeded.

How it works.

The BCS3 controller periodically opens the Blowdown valve to start a flow of boiler water past the system’s conductivity sensor. The measured value is then compared with the desired TDS set point in the controller If the measured value is lower than the set point, the blowdown valve is closed. If it has reached the set point, the blowdown valve remains open until the measured value drops below the set point. The time between blowdown tests is automatically related to your boiler’s steam load by monitoring the boiler firing.

The Controller.

The Spirax BCS3 Controllers incorporate state of the art features to optimise your blowdown cycle, protect your steam system and save you money. With microprocessor based electronics, a 4 Digit LED continuous display of TDS and system status and simple Push Button Interface for easy commissioning, calibration, and operation. Other features include high TDS alarm relay output for remote indication, an advanced Probe Conditioning Circuit that automatically descales the conductivity probe and Automatic Temperature Compensation.

Medium Pressure Blowdown System (MBS) & High Pressure Blowdown System (HBS) ABCO
Conventional methods for blowing down the boiler depend on two kinds of blowdown - intermittent and continuous. However, none of these methods regulate the levels of the parameters closely, and neither do they take into account the variations in the steam load where less or more blowdown would actually be required.
We offer you a system to control the levels of various parameters in your high pressure boilers. This system will blow down your boiler only as much as required and will maintain the value of the parameter close to the Set Point, resulting in a substantial fuel saving. Each high pressure automatic blowdown control system is specially designed to tailor-made specifications for every customer, so as to best suit the requirements and existing conditions.
