Stationary Syphon Elbow

Stationary or Elbow syphons are mainly used with low speed machines. At low speed the condensate in the dryer is in puddling condition and stationary syphon continuously picks it up and throws it out of the dryer. This type of syphon is suitable for speeds up to 150 – 250 mpm for a dryer of 1500 mm diameter.

Applications

Low speed machines with speed up to 150 mpm (Standard Elbow) and 200 mpm (spring loaded)
For dryers without manhole

Fixed Bend Syphons

Fixed bend syphons offer better mechanical stability, lower clearance and therefore are ideal choice for speeds up to 250 mpm. This type of syphon can be fitted with an external pick up shoe as well.

Rotary Syphon

In high speed machines the condensate forms a rim along the inner dryer surface because of the centrifugal force. Rotary syphons are used for speeds above 250 mpm upto 650 mpm. Since condensate is rimming inside the dryer, use of this syphon removes it continuously. The syphon has a pick-up shoe on one side, which is designed for low inlet pressure drop and maximum flow. The spring and thrust pad on the other side ensures fixing of the syphon inside the drum. The syphon is designed for minimum blow through steam.

Application
For speeds above 250 mpm rotary syphons are recommended
High Speed Syphon. This is a universal speed syphon operating at very low differential pressure.

The high speed stationary syphon provides close clearance between the dyrer surface and shoe and thereby minimizes condensate rim thickness. Typical differential pressure is 0.2 to 0.25 barg at speeds above 300 mpm
