Picture of FM CII AA Programme Alumna Chetna PatilI am Mrs Chetna Pawar Patil from CII FM Batch-32.

When I joined the training, I truly began to understand how an industry functions. We initially had classroom sessions where the basics of instrumentation, mechanical, and electrical concepts were explained in depth, along with product knowledge and an overall understanding of operations. This was followed by hands-on training, which helped strengthen and clarify our concepts further.

In addition, we underwent a detailed SWOT analysis conducted by Mr Dhamankar Sir. He personally assessed our strengths and weaknesses and clearly explained how understanding them could help us improve continuously. Through his guidance, I learned how to work on my weaker areas while further strengthening my capabilities. Without his constant support and mentorship, it would have been extremely difficult for me to successfully complete the training program. His encouragement played a vital role in my steady personal and professional growth day by day. In addition, we were guided by expert external faculty like Mr Puranik Sir, who supported us in personality development, and Mrs. Moushmi Achari, who trained us in interview techniques and skills and helped build the confidence required to successfully crack interviews.

Initially this looked like a challenging situation for me to achieve work-life balance. However, soon I realised that while working in Forbes Marshall, it is possible to successfully balance both corporate and family life. In fact, I was already married during Covid break and a mother to my daughter when I began my training. Managing my professional learning alongside my family responsibilities was challenging, but it made my journey even more meaningful. It taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay committed to my goals. Looking back, this phase feels special and unique, as it has shaped my perspective and built my confidence.

Throughout this entire journey, my knowledge and confidence grew significantly and later I was interviewed for an opportunity in the Process Analytical Division for a position as Sales Engineer. The role primarily focuses on water quality analysers/solutions and with a lot of electro-chemistry knowledge. Initially, the subject felt challenging, but gradually I got engrossed in learning and developed a strong understanding of it. Slowly but steadily, I could gain appropriate inputs and right domain knowledge in the required field. In due course, I started handling the function independently and more confidently.

In this division, I have received immense support, understanding, and knowledge from my managers, Shantanu Choudhari, Manoj Vasagade and Devjyoti Das. Their constant guidance and encouragement have played a crucial role in my growth and development. They have not only strengthened my technical understanding but have also guided me in handling practical challenges, customer interactions, and decision-making with confidence. Their mentorship has helped me think strategically, improve my problem-solving skills, and approach responsibilities with greater clarity and ownership. Today, I play an important role in the Process Analytical Division and contribute significantly to the team. I now manage my responsibilities efficiently, continuously work on self-improvement, and proudly see myself growing each day, both professionally and personally. Attending customer meets, seminars, sales conferences have also given a larger forum across industry and representation of my domain knowledge.
