On 19th June, Forbes Marshall inaugurated a new Community Centre in Kasarwadi — a vibrant space envisioned to bring people together, foster collaboration, and strengthen community ties. The centre stands as a tribute to Mr. Darius Forbes’ long-standing belief in growing alongside the communities we serve.
The event brought together a diverse and spirited group: teachers and students from the Study Hall, members of the KEM Child Guidance Centre team, the Umang women’s group, and several of our long-standing NGO partners. Their participation, despite the monsoon rain, made the inauguration truly memorable.
A highlight of the gathering was the presence of Meera Rajda, who has been a guiding force in our social outreach since the 1980s. Her reflections reminded us of the values that have shaped our journey in community development. It was especially moving to see women who have been part of our initiatives for over two decades reconnect — a celebration of continuity and collective effort.
The current CSR team shared the evolution of our social engagement — from its early beginnings to its present scope and future aspirations. Women from the community and students from the Study Hall added their voices, sharing personal stories and hopes that brought the event to life.
At the heart of the new centre stands The Magic Tree, a striking art installation by Ruby Jhunjhunwala. Representing hope, growth, and resilience, the tree now welcomes every visitor at the reception area — a visual metaphor for the centre’s purpose.
The inauguration closed with homemade refreshments lovingly prepared by the women of Umang, a Forbes Marshall-supported initiative that continues to empower women through entrepreneurship.
The Kasarwadi Community Centre is more than just a building — it’s a shared space for connection, learning, and collective growth. We welcome you to visit and experience the spirit of community that lives here.
