Manometers are devices used to measure pressure. Though newer, smaller, and easier-to-use sensors have become popular, manometers still provide accurate measurements.
The types of manometers include:
- U-tube Manometers:
Consist of U-shaped glass tubes partially filled with liquid.
If the pressure on both sides of the tube is equal, the liquid levels will align with the zero point on the graduated scale.
If pressure is applied to one side, causing an imbalance, the difference in liquid levels provides the pressure difference. - Graduated Scale:
The scale on the manometer is marked with pressure units, indicating the pressure based on the liquid’s displacement. - Inclined-tube Manometer: The tube is inclined, providing more accurate readings for small pressure differences.
Well-type Manometer: One side has a larger reservoir (well) and the other a narrow tube, allowing for measuring small pressure differences.
These devices are used in various applications to accurately measure and monitor fluid pressure levels.
