PT. Forbes Marshall Indonesia recently hosted a seminar on “Energy Saving and Improvement Opportunities” in Bandung on August 4th. The event drew professionals from various sectors, including the Textiles, Food and Beverage, Pharmaceuticals, and Paper industries.
The seminar focused on crucial areas for optimising energy use, including opportunities for savings in the boiler house, efficient steam distribution, effective process utilisation, and the recovery of condensate and flash steam.
Attendees gained a deeper understanding of how inefficient steam systems lead to higher energy consumption, increased operating costs, and a larger CO2 footprint. With rising fuel prices, optimising these systems is essential for improving a company’s bottom line. The session highlighted that steam system bottlenecks not only affect productivity and product quality but also compromise employee safety.
A key takeaway for many was the realisation that Indonesian plants can consume 30-35% more energy due to common steam system issues. Beyond energy savings, attendees learned how optimising condensate recovery can significantly reduce water consumption and the load on their Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), which is a common problem when condensate is only partially recovered or completely drained. The seminar provided practical strategies to help companies achieve their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by demonstrating the clear financial, environmental, and operational benefits of energy optimisation.
The seminar also served as a platform for addressing specific customer concerns. When stakeholders raised questions about the online maintenance of steam traps, we were able to showcase our CMTD42M-F product solution. This solution was well-received as a practical way to perform online maintenance and check trap performance without interrupting plant operations.
Overall, the seminar reinforced Forbes Marshall’s commitment to being a dedicated partner in helping Indonesian businesses achieve their energy-saving goals.
