Steam Meter FLOWIRL™ 8400

The FLOWIRL™ 8400 is a highly versatile, all-in-one vortex flowmeter built to master fluctuating process conditions in the measurement of liquids, gases, and saturated or superheated steam.

The base version includes temperature compensation, while an optional pressure sensor provides complete, integrated density compensation. Utilising Advanced Vortex Frequency Detection (AVFD) technology, it is the ideal choice for demanding applications including industrial gas consumption, compressed air systems, compressor output monitoring, and Free Air Delivery (FAD) evaluation.

Key Technical Specifications:

  • Medium Temperature Range: -40°C to +240°C / -40°F to +465°F.
  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 100 bar / 1450 psi (higher pressures on request).
  • Measurement Accuracy (Volume Flow): ± 0.75% for liquids; ± 1.0% for volume flow.
  • Measurement Accuracy (Mass Flow): ± 1.5% of measured value for gases and steam.
  • Output Signal: 4…20 mA HART® (passive).
  • Ingress Protection: IP66/67 (for both compact housing and remote sensor housing).
  • Viscosity Limit: < 10 cP.

Related Content:

  • Advanced AVFD Technology: Employs Advanced Vortex Frequency Detection for superior signal filtering and noise immunity.
  • Integrated P&T Compensation: Measures pressure, temperature, and volume flow at a single point, enabling direct mass flow computation.
  • Nominal Diameter Reduction (F1R/F2R): Options available for integrated reduction of nominal pipe sizes up to two sizes down, ensuring accurate results even in low-flow, large-diameter pipes.
  • Remote Field Configuration: The signal converter can be mounted in a field housing up to 50 meters (164 feet) away from the primary flow sensor.
