FK Series

The Shinkawa FK Series is an elite, API 670-compliant non-contact eddy current displacement transducer designed for tracking shaft vibration, eccentricity, and axial position. Designed for the most demanding predictive maintenance architectures, this non-contact displacement sensor serves as the critical data source for Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI).
Utilising the eddy-current principle, the sensor tip measures the exact distance to the rotating shaft without physical contact, ensuring no wear and tear on the machinery or the probe. The FK Series sensors remains entirely unbothered by the presence of oil or mist, it is the ideal solution for enclosed journal bearings on massive power generators and gas turbines, reliably feeding data to your infiSYS or DCS platforms.

Applications of FK Series Sensors:

Condition monitoring of critical machines supported by journal bearings. Indispensable for Steam Turbines, Gas Turbines, Generators, and large Compressors.

  • Total API 670 Compliance: Engineered to the stringent requirements of the American Petroleum Institute (5th Edition) for critical machinery protection
  • Impervious to Contaminants: Provides flawless measurements regardless of heavy oil droplets or oil mist inside the bearing housing
  • Eco-Friendly Engineering: Manufactured with lead-free soldering and full RoHS compliance
  • Wide Temperature Resilience: The sensors and extension cables safely operate in blistering environments up to +177°C
  • Hazardous Area Approved: Fully certified with intrinsically safe ratings (TIIS, CSA, ATEX, NEPSI, KTL) and marine classifications (NK, LR)

Frequently Asked Questions

Will oil inside the bearing housing affect the Shinkawa FK sensor?

No, the FK series eddy current sensors have excellent environmental resistance and are not impacted by oil droplets or oil mist during operation.

What machinery requires an FK series displacement sensor?

They are strictly recommended for critical machines supported by journal (sleeve) bearings, such as steam turbines, gas turbines, and massive compressors.

Is the Shinkawa FK series API 670 compliant?

Yes, the entire FK series is designed in compliance with the API Standard 670 (5th Edition).

What temperatures can the FK sensor withstand?

The FL sensor probe and FW extension cable are built to endure harsh operating temperatures ranging from -40°C to +177°C.

What is the power requirement for the FK Driver?

The driver module requires a -24 VDC (±10%) power supply.
