USD 47,700 saved annually through a condensate heat recovery system for a confectionery MNC in Thailand

A confectionery MNC in Bangkok, Thailand was facing losses due to draining of high temperature condensate. As the plant was purchasing steam from outside instead of generating it in-house, they were unable to find use for the hot condensate. Forbes Marshall conducted an audit and engineered the steam system design for the entire plant. Recommendations were implemented in phases.

Objective

PROBLEM

As the plant now externally sourced steam instead of generating it in-house, they were recovering condensate to the boiler house (which is no longer in use) after which it was drained. This draining of 118 Tonnes (260K Pounds) per day of high-temperature condensate was resulting in losses.

Solution

SOLUTION

Forbes Marshall recommended and implemented a Condensate Heat Recovery System (CHRS) for preheating the makeup water to the hot water system.

Benefit

BENEFITS

Heat savings of 270,000 Kcal (1 million BTU) per hour

Steam savings of 530 Kilograms (1,168 Pounds) per hour

Annual monetary savings of USD 47,700 (~THB 1,528,880 *converted based on exchange rates)
