A noodle plant in East Jawa, Indonesia, was experiencing steam leakage in Dryer line 2, causing significant energy loss. Forbes Marshall implemented thermal energy conservation solutions to address the issues in the dryer line.

PROBLEM

The plant was experiencing steam leakage in Dryer line 2 due to incorrect selection of process steam traps. Trap uptime was 0%, leading to higher specific fuel consumption of 644 Kilograms (1420 Pounds) Coal per Tonne of Product.

Solution

SOLUTION

Forbes Marshall recommended and implemented thermal energy conservation solutions in the plant. 10 units of the Compact Module Two Orifice Float Traps (CMTOFT) were installed to eliminate steam leakage and ensure 100% trap uptime.

Improved dryer air temperature with an increase in daily production from 12,376 to 13,510 Kilograms (27.3K to 29.7K Pounds)

Process trap uptime increased from 0 to 100%

Specific fuel consumption reduced from 644 to 507 Kilograms coal per Tonne product (1420 to 1118 Pounds coal per Tonne product)

Fuel savings of 21.35%

Annual monetary savings of USD 74,184 (~IDR 1,240,731,109 *converted based on exchange rate)
